An Overview of The Design Environment

The ActivityDesigner design environment includes

  1. the Scene Panel that contains a collection of scenes representing everyday activities;
  2. the Theme Panel that contains multiple themes representing different aspects of people’s everyday lives;
  3. the Prototype Panel showing the thumbnails of created prototypes. You can click on an thumbnail to bring out the prototype in the Storyboard Editor. You can always right click on an thumbnail to edit its attributes.
  4. the Storyboard Editor for specifying the interaction logic of a prototype. Most of the time, you don't have to switch modes (e.g., for creating a page or a link). The ActivityDesigner can automatically distinguish and interpret your manipulation based on interaction context. In general, you can right click (with a mouse) or barrel tap (with a pen) to bring up a context menu for more advanced features, e.g., adding Java or JavaScript code to a page.
  5. the Resource Panel that includes created interface components (property viewers), loaded images, video and audio clips for easy reuse. You can right click on a category (either on the title bar or inside the panel) to add new resources or remove existing resources.
