Representing Everyday Activities as Scenes

A scene has four parts:

Here let's go through a typical process for creating a scene. You can add a single scene by clicking on the New Scene shadow. This creates a default scene.

Optionally, you can then add a picture, or a video or audio clip to the scene for better describing the scene. For example, we here add a picture of driving a car.

You can click on the Action on the top to type in what people were doing in the scene, e.g., driving a car.

You can then click on the Situation at the bottom to specify in what circumstances the action happened. You can add or remove properties. Note that adding or removing a situation property will affect all the scenes you have created as well as scenes you are going to create. You can specify the value of a property for the scene, e.g., the person is driving with a family member. By default, each property has an unknown value.

To add comments to a scene, you can expand a scene by right clicking on the Scene panel to bring up a popup menu.

You can directly type in comments in the text editor below a scene. Similarly, you can also collapse a scene via the popup menu.

You can also automatically import a set of data into a new collection of scenes.  In such case, your data needs to be organized in a simple structure, i.e., the data for each scene should be in a separate folder and all the scene folders should be under the same directory. Then you can click on the Import Data button in the toolbar.
